JACKIE ZELT - @JZELTPHOTOGRAPHY
My interest in adventure photography began at a young age, always trying to borrow friends’ and family members’ cameras when on camping trips, hikes, etc, but it wasn’t until I attended university and took an introduction course to photography that I really became hooked. Immediately afterwards I took a semester off to travel throughout six different countries in South America, and had my camera at the ready at all times. Life got busy and I took a little break from photography, until about four years ago when I picked it up again. I purchased a massive photography book and read it all in one week (and I don’t read books very often!) This was followed by my personal pursuit of online classes, experimental shoots, and anything photography related that I could get my hands on. My passion for photography has lead to my most recent position as a high school photography teacher in Nelson BC at LVR Secondary, teaching both introductory and advanced classes. I want to continue my pursuit in the challenge of feeling free and taking photographs in the wild, and I want to be able to bring photos back to our communities that showcase the beauty of the world that we live in through unique perspectives.
